Formed in Gainesville, Florida, during the early 1990s, Less than Jake made its first big mark on the musical map with ‘96’s LOSING STREAK, a collection of caffeinated ska-punk tunes. Although the band seemed destined to fade like many other third-wave ska acts, the group rebounded from a slump with ‘03’s highly melodic ANTHEM, allowing LTJ to have a second lease on its musical career....

Here was a Hasidic Jew -- dressed in a black suit with a broad-brimmed black hat worn over a yarmulke, and sporting a full, untrimmed beard -- who nevertheless performed toasting raps about the glories of traditional Judaism over reggae beats in a dancehall style directly from Jamaica....
