Lewis and Clark are so 1804. Today, the National Park Service celebrates baseball’s pioneers with a new exhibit of historic images from National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Library of Congress and the Missouri History Museum and some 50 artifacts including Stan Musial’s glove, Branch Rickey’s 1919 jersey, a ball from the Cards’ 1926 World Series victory over the Yankees, autographed by the whole team (and Babe Ruth) and a hands-on comparison of current Major League pitching grips with pre-1900 pitches.
