They may be marinated artichokes, tiny open-faced seafood sandwiches, or baby octopus in olive oil, served simply on a toothpick. Whatever it is, they are always fresh, simple, inexpensive, and delicious. Giro di Ombre (JEE-roh dee OHM-breh)– “a late-afternoon, early-evening ombre crawl” Ombra (OHM-brah) – literally means shadow. Ombre are also known as small glasses of wine served at bacari. Ubriaco/a (oo-bree-AH-koh) – this is what you become when you’ve had too many ombre.
