This month Innovation SoCal looks at EdTech and the software opportunities created by the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) now adopted for K-12 education by 43 states. The introduction of these standards has opened opportunities spawned a wave of school hardware investment and adoption of new software for teaching, training… Show more and monitoring student progress and teaching effectiveness. The new standards have also increased the market potential for software products which now require less state-by-state customization.
We take this look at the EdTech software market through the eyes Ethan Joffe, a software technologist and serial entrepreneur. His new venture, Lemur Tech Inc., recently launched its first product, K8Parents.com which shows parents how to help their kids with Common Core Math. He will share with us his view of the new software opportunities related to CCSS adoption and the challenges of launching a new software product in this new market.

Ethan Joffe is a technologist, serial entrepreneur and founder of Lemur Tech, Inc., a technology development company producing innovative software applications like K8Parents.com mentioned above. Previously, he was Co-Founder and Chief Scientist at Nami Media, a pay-per-click technology hub, acquired by Lin Media in 2011. Earlier his was a co-founder of five companies developing multimedia software for computer graphic production, entertainment industry internet services and automated website creation. Ethan earned a BS in Computer Science from MIT and was a researcher at the MIT Media Lab. Ask him about his interest in predictive analytics, graphical software interfaces, al gorithmic music composition and virtual instrument design.
