FLAVOR: Additional Info on Name Change and History.

In 1976, Stan Sheppard and twin brothers, Steven & Sterling Rice - under their managers Ronnie Eckstein (son of Billy Eckstein) and Mike Merco - joined together with MOTOWN veteran writer/producer, VERNON BULLOCK (who, along with another legendary MOTOWN veteran writer/producer, HARVEY FUQUA, also created the R&B recording artist, "NEW BIRTH"). In 1977, "FLAVOR" signed with "JuPar" Records by William "Bunky" Sheppard and co-wrote lyrics to several of Vernon's tracks ("Push The Past", "Move Your Body", etc.), which were released by JuPar under the name, "FLAVOR". Vernon agreed to write and produce them for the label, along with another artist, William "WEE GEE" Howard (a member of the "Dramatics" and lead on "In The Rain"), whom Vernon also co-wrote and produced the "Hold On (To Your Dreams)" single & album on in 1978. The group changed their name, "FLAVOR", to "LIVIN' PROOF" (another name created and owned by VERNON) because of a conflict with another group by that name. Their album and single, "You & I", was released in 1977 but, was dropped abruptly, when John "Junie" Garret suddenly disappeared and "JuPar" went out of business.
