USC Korean Culture Night VIP 2013

Continuing the Legacy
With last year's grand debut of Korean Culture Night (KCN) at USC, we truly started with a bang. After 7 mhard months of planning USC's first ever KCN, our production was fortunate enough to be awarded by the USC Asian Pacific American Student Assembly as the "Best Culture Show of the Year" in 2012. In humbly accepting this recognition, KCN will continue in our mission to cultivate and spread Korean culture throughout the USC campus, and to the greater Los Angeles community.This… Show more year, we have once again gathered some of USC's finest students of 27 executive and creative staff members, 10 actors, and 15 stagehands, to bring an even more inspirational production. The production, originally written, directed, and acted by students, will present a the following themes:
1. What it means to be Korean in the America, today.
2. The cultural and generational gap between parents and children.
3. The beauty, understanding, and necessity of forgiveness.
"Captured" is a story about a Korean-born adoptee named Kayla Richardson. We follow Kayla as she embarks on her journey to understand, be exposed to, and become involved with her lost Korean culture and heritage. Along the way, she becomes convinced that finding her parents will reveal more of where she came from, and her identity as a young college Korean American. What Kayla doesn't know is that all of this is easier said than done.
