Into the Sun: in three movements

Pitch Like Masses, Magnuzaki Labs, And Robbie NOCK.
Into the Sun is a visual and sonic journey that utilizes improvisational projections and music to guide the viewer through the life cycles of our most central cosmic body. A collaboration between Pitch Like Masses (Kari Rae Seekins, Jon Armstrong, Andrew Lessman and Alexander Noice) and Magnuzaki Labs (Joice Ozaki and Hlynur Magnusson), this piece explores the themes of life, death, memory and existence in its purest form.
The three distinct movements… Show more represent the different aspects of the sun, one that is an astral body, one that guides us through the passage of time, and one that purifies us, and is part of our bodies in the most basic level: life energy.
Magnuzaki Labs (http://vimeo.com/magnuzaki) is a husband and wife team who are graduates of the CalArts Experimental Animation Program. They are Los Angeles based artists, and expats of Iceland and Japan. They enjoy creating moving images that are highly tactile, by incorporating hand drawn animation, stop action and real textures to their digital work.
Pitch Like Masses (http://pitchlikemasses.bandcamp.com/album/april) is a electro-acoustic music quartet who formed in 2009. They have since performed extensively around the Downtown La art gallery scene, in Austria and Germany, have collaborated with boundary-pushing dance/performance art groups In-SENSO (France) and The Mob (Sweden.) They most recently performed at REDCAT's NOWfest, where they composed and performed original music for Susan Simpson's Exhibit A.

Robbie Nock is an interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. His work explores the interweaving of technology and space. He has an Ma in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh and completed an Mfa in Art and Technology at CalArts. He has exhibited in Edinburgh, Durham, London and Los Angeles. He is a co-founder of Junc records, a live audio-visual electronic music collective and is currently the founding director of a mobile map-sharing platform.
