National Medal of Science Winner Dr. Sandra Faber will give an illustrated nontechnical talk on "How Galaxies Were Cooked from the Primordial Soup" (as part of the Silicon Valley Astronomy Lecture Series.) She will discuss modern ideas about how galaxies of stars were organized out of the chaos of the big bang and how the universe reached its present-day "lumpy" structure. Dr. Faber is University Professor and Director of the UC Observatories at UC Santa Cruz.
