This is the best place I've found in LA for delicious fresh sushi. The fish is way above average, the rice is very special, and the Chef is exceptionally talented. I high recommend letting him choose for you, but don't be shy about making respectful requests for your favorites. I imagine it's a lot like being in Japan... traditional and simple.
