Celebrate American classics in the making. Chris Thile, of Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers fame, performs the California premiere of his Mandolin Concerto ("Ad Astra per Alas Porci") with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. The concert also features "By All Means" by 28-year-old Nico Muhly, acclaimed composer of "The Reader", and two works by Copland - the jazz-inflected "Music for the Theatre" and iconic "Appalachian Spring" Suite.
