Uncover the Prison in Your Backyard: Years of Turmoil

Wednesday, Apr 10, 2013 7:30p

Presented by the Workhouse Prison Museum, this series addresses issues, personages and dynamics that reached beyond the sprawling 3,000 acre complex known interchangeably as the DC/Lorton/Occoquan prison.

Civil rights attorneys Philip Hirschkop and Marvin Miller will recount legal battles reflecting the enormous social changes that exploded into America’s culture in the 1960’s. Paul Quander, DC Deputy Mayor for Public Services, will provide a view of the impact of these changes on the prison.
