New Horseshoe Bar Grill

3645 Taylor Rd., Loomis, CA, 95650

Though the New Horseshoe Bar Grill bills itself as an "american bistro," the weight and complexity of its dishes are more representative of white-tablecloth restaurant in Manhattan or Las Vegas, with the menu as diverse as the Mediterranean and the U.S. heartland.

Its a Renaissance for Great Dining

Just a hop, skip and a jump east of Roseville is this rejuvenated eatery. The Horseshoe Bar Grill reopened last summer after being closed by its previous operators two yers earlier. The word NEW was added to the name, and newness came to the menu in the form of freshness, creativity and fine cuisine.
The lunch and dinner offerings vary with the seasons. Old standbys such as ribeye steak, fresh fish, pressed chicken and some pasta treats. They define American bistro as one-plate meals, and they are bountiful platefuls.

The club sandwich, featuring smoked turkey, honey-glazed ham and applewood-smoked bacon, is a flavorful plate full. One review I read said it was so massive it had to be disassembled before eating. I like that.
The night we visited, a prime-rib dinner was on special for $19.95. It included salad, potatoes and vegetables, plus a beautiful dessert. My wife raves. I ordered the pork chop dinner, the best pork I ever devoured. The portion was so big, I had to take some home for a later treat.
We found the wait staff to be well informed about the menu, helpful and courteous.
We are going back. It's a class act.

The restaurant’s elegantold-fangled interior has been brightened and contemporized with a colorful array of horse-related artwork and newly painted walls—the main dining room is now a gentle lime green, the bar a striking scarlet.
