FAQ
1. Is it possible to get good quality video with an iPhone? Yes. The iPhone 4 onwards can capture footage in excess of broadcast quality. Watch this clip of James Cameron, interviewed by Dashboard Media on an iPhone, answering this specific point. T he quality was downgraded for the web.
2. What if I don't have an iPhone? No problem. Dashboard has spare handsets to loan to delegates on a first-come, first-served basis. If this is crucial to you, check availablity prior to making payment. That said, we've never run out.
3. Can I come on the course to learn about video on Android? Not really. While some Android handsets have great cameras, it is the ecosystem of third-party apps and accessories that transform the iPhone into a professional video-capure device.
4. What about shooting on an iPad? Newer iPads do have a good camera. It is tricky to hold the iPad steady and options for mounting one are limited. However, we do now teach how to shoot with an iPad – and it is ideal for video editing.
5. Will I need to bring any extra kit? No. You will be shown how to get good results if using nothing but the phone. You can also try a wide range of iPhone accessories (e.g. mics or mounts) all provided on the day. Dashboard Media sells Mobile Video kits with everything you need from £249 but this is optional.
6. Does my experience level matter? Not really. Many previous attendees have either never shot a frame of video or made their own films. Everyone is treated equally and split in small groups according to their experience.
7. How large are the group sizes? This is a small hands-on session, typically with two trainers. The number of attendees is usually ten.
8. Will Dashboard Media run an in-house iPhone for Video course? Yes. All we ask is that you commit to the cost of eight delegates. We are happy to come to most locations, albeit there may be some travel costs involved. Let's talk.
