Suicide

Although they barely receive credit, Suicide (singer Alan Vega and keyboardist Martin Rev) is the source point for virtually every synth pop duo that glutted the pop marketplace (especially in England) in the early '80s.
The Stooges
The Stooges Remove performer from this event
During the psychedelic haze of the late '60s, the grimy, noisy and relentlessly bleak rock & roll of the Stooges was conspicuously out of time. Like the Velvet Underground, the Stooges revealed the underside of sex, drugs, and rock & roll, showing all of the grime beneath the myth.

Because they only played one show in the UK, the whole legend of Iggy Pop and the Stooges came from film footage, blown-up stories and three monumental albums. If anyone has ever embodied the whole punk rock ethic it is this band.
