Mario plans to open his steakhouse in downtown Livermore next month. He promises all the pleasures of fine dining without all the stuffiness in a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. He goes on to say Mario's Steak & Chop House will bring steak dinners to an entirely new level, encompassing classic hand-cut steaks charbroiled to perfection and the best of Livermore Valley wines. Will be a great place for small private parties and business meetings.
Well, I guess it can't get any better. After reading some of the poor reviews about the other 2 major steak houses in the area, this will be a breath of fresh air.

After 2 meals at Mario's six weeks apart, we will not be going back. If you run a steakhouse with a $30 to $40 price point for a steak, you need to deliver and Mario's does not! Service is not good. Noise is a problem. Steaks are decent but not memorable. Sides include 3 potato dishes. NO vegetable sides except awful green beans. Item descriptions that are not accurate. Chili beans from a can. A wine list that is so woeful that I recomend you bring a bottle from home. If you want to spend $150 on dinner for two, try Morton's or Ruth's Chris!
