Talk and book signing: "Rare Birds"

Today 7:00p to 8:30p

Boston Globe correspondent Elizabeth Gehrman will talk about her book Rare Birds: The Extraordinary Tale of the Bermuda Petrel and the Man Who Brought It Back from Extinction. It's a story of obsession and hope that tells of the cahow, or Bermuda petrel — rediscovered in 1951 after 330 years of presumed extinction — and how ornithologist David Wingate spent his life fighting hurricanes, invasive species, DDT, the American military, and personal tragedy to restore the species.
