IN HONOR OF ORIANA (Elizabeth I)
The Lexington Chamber Chorale's 23rd season begins with music in honor of Queen Elizabeth I. Hear madrigals by Thomas Morley and other Elizabethan composers written to honor Elizabeth (affectionately known as Oriana), ensemble and solo songs by 17th-century composer and lutenist John Dowland, and 20th-century “Choral Dances” from Gloriana (another term of affection) by Benjamin Britten. Enjoy an evening of Elizabethan music, dance, and a special appearance by “Queen Elizabeth.”
