My Mother, My Sister, Myself: Portraits by Gaela Erwin
Internationally-shown, Louisville-based artist Gaela Erwin departs from two decades of exclusive work in self-portraiture in this deeply personal exhibition of portraits of the artist, her sister, and her mother. Influenced by the works of Carvaggio and inspired by the complexities of her mother’s advancing dementia, Erwin uses light to play lost and found, spiritually and physically, with subjects who are often stand-ins for herself.
