Simple Sparrow Dance Company: 'The Collective'

Manuel Mendoza, The Dallas Morning News: Prolific dancer-choreographer Jessie Rosenberger has a fresh batch of new works debuting next week at her troupe’s second show of the season. This time, though, the Denton-based artistic director of Simple Sparrow Dance Company is sharing choreographing duties with other members of her group. Called “The Collective,” the performances will feature pieces by Heather Gall, Nicole Jordan and Rosenberger’s sister, Macy Loucks, along with a solo, a duet and a group… Show more piece by Rosenberger. She and Jordan also are collaborating on a large-scale work for the seven company members and nine guest artists, set to Baz Luhrmann’s 1999 hit single, “Everybody’s Free (to Wear Sunscreen).” Rosenberger’s well-structured dances are rooted in modern and contemporary movement styles and range from the introspective to the kinetic. Last fall, Simple Sparrow premiered eight of her works. The company made its debut in November 2010 at the Stone Cottage in Addison.
