Carrot Top
Comedians have always used props - from Jonathan Winters to Steve Martin. But before Carrot Top, no comic had ever actually created props, not as puns, but as humorous inventions. Nothing new in show business? It's all been done before? With a Rube Goldberg genius for gadgets and rock 'n' roll in-your-face energy, Carrt Top is a comedian unlike any other - ever....

Carrot Top uses props a lot. These are in footlockers spread across the stage. They are visual puns, corny, funny and stupid. The trick is to go at a manic pace that moves forward fast enough to avoid examination. Go Go Go. And for a good stretch it works. CT mixes this with a some commentary, audience interaction, video to avoid monotony. It generally works.
The show ends with a less successful parody of rock performance that is not a strong conclusion to what seemed a downward spiral. A fun 40 minutes is stretched to 75 or 80. Perhaps an interlude of juggling or the Luxor Rockettes would have made it all work better but then again it may be that this is all about 1 man working hard and having a drink with us at the end.
