Relevance LEAD

LEAD will be a three day conversation focused on converging, innovating, and transforming young adult ministry in the church. LEAD will be a gathering of one hundred participants that includes young clergy, young lay leaders, and others who are working with young adults in the UMC. LEAD will bring together the collective wisdom of those that want to transform and grow young adult ministry in the church for the ultimate transformation of the world with the love of Jesus Christ.
LEAD refuses to participate… Show more with more “experts” who believe they can say what “works” (besides, for $500, you can go to any number of those conferences). Instead, we believe:
that the cumulative body of knowledge amongst leaders in ministry with young adults is a valuable and overlooked asset;
that a limited number of participants (100) will give us a better opportunity to connect, network, and collaborate during and after LEAD;
that in a world of economic crisis and war, the transformative love of Jesus Christ continues to be relevant to us and to a generation of young adults who are searching for hope and a belief in a better tomorrow.
To do this, LEAD will be organized in a “TED” format (ted.com) inviting six speakers to each give an 18-minute presentation. In addition to our speakers there will be a group panel discussion with additional time for dialogue, opportunities for informal interaction, and lots of food.
