Pennsylvania German Dialect Class—Intermediate Level
Pennsylvania German Dialect, also known as “Pennsylvania Dutch,” is common today among Old Order Amish and Mennonite communities in Pennsylvania and as far west as Wisconsin. Historically, it was also spoken by Lutheran, Reformed and other groups of German immigrants.
Keith “Butch” Reigart became fluent in Pennsylvania German from hearing it in his childhood home. He received a B.A. in German from the State University of New York and an M.A. in Russian from Middlebury College, Vermont.
