Sacred Harp worship service
Sacred Harp is an early American a cappella hymn singing tradition. Also known as shapenote singing, it was popular during the first years of the American republic, and has a raw, even raucous sound. Considered a dying folk art only 40 years ago, it has rebounded dramatically, with singings all across the country. Numerous Sacred Harp songs will be sung during the worship service, and anyone is welcome to come and join in the singing.
