South Sound Center opened in 1966 and was billed as the fourth regional shopping center in the state of Washington. The center has gone through many changes since it opened. Once an inside shopping mall that included past tenants like Pay ‘n Save, Nordstrom Place Two (closed in 1994), Woolworth (closed in 1997), and various other stores; South Sound Center became an outside power center in 2001 that has Kohl’s, Target, Sears, Marshalls and PetsMart as Anchors.
South Sound Center is host to several community events, including the annual Funtastic Spring Carnival, July 3rd Fireworks Spectacular and the Oly Toy Run.
