Check their events calendar and see if there are any special events going on. It's always nice to interact with the people that work there. Sometimes they'll show you the different things that go on behind the scenes at the aquarium.
Although the aquarium is not that large (compared to Monterey Bay Aquarium for example) they have a decent selection of exhibits and of course the view of the beach is great. Admission isn't very pricey so it's a good destination when you have a free weekend and want to do something different.
