Thad Jones: From Count Basie to the Village Vanguard

The SRJO's 2012-2013 season continues March 2-3 with the sensational music of Thad Jones. This jazz icon wrote swingin' music for Count Basie, Charles Mingus, and Harry James, played solo trumpet for Basie, and went on to become the composer and co-leader of the world famous Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra that was in residence for many years at the New York Village Vanguard. Performance includes "The Farewell," "A Child Is Born," and an SRJO audience favorite, Basie's "April in Paris."
