Bittersweet

If you are looking for a world of charm, filling comfort food served in relaxed and friendly surroundings you need only to look just a few blocks south of the new Kent Station. The Bittersweet Restaurant, named after a plant that can be found in New England, Massachusetts, is located in Kent's historic downtown district. In the middle of the block at 211 First Avenue South, the Bittersweet Restaurant occupies a space that has been a restaurant for decades. It was once called the "Boardinghouse". We offer a number of set entrees as well as a rotating selection of other dishes. All homemade, a typical daily menu offers spinach and plain lasagna, broccoli pie, quiche, chicken enchilada casserole and an assortment of soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. Bittersweet bakers and cooks are hard at work by 7 a.m. preparing daily entrees, apple crisp, pies, as well as breads used in the restaurant.The Bittersweet is open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Meeting the needs of the dinner and movie crowd, the restaurant is also open for dinner on Friday nights. We feature a revolving list of specials along with the standards that have made the restaurant a favorite with its regulars. Recent dinner entrees have included herb-crusted salmon, roasted pork tenderloin and chicken fettuccini. Jim also hires local musicians who play while diners eat.We have worked hard to build a steady clientele who have come to trust the consistency and quality of our food and our service.
