Exploring Mars with the Curiosity Rover

Saturday, Apr 20, 2013 1:00p to 2:00p
Kalamazoo Valley Museum Kalamazoo, MI

“Curiosity” was developed to assess the habitability of Mars. Since liquid water is a basic ingredient for life as we know it, in order to understand the habitability of other planets we must first understand the behavior of water on them. In this presentation, we review the current evidence for water both in the past and present-day climate of Mars. Then, we take a look at the Curiosity Rover, its instruments, and its landing site in Gale Crater. Finally, an update of Curiosity’s progress.
