California Native Plant Society, OC Public Meeting- The Treasures Within: Unanticipated Uses of Herbarium

Thursday, Oct 17, 2013 6:45p to 9:00p

Natural history specimens are biological organisms stored in perpetuity, along with location data and dates. They are essential resources for addressing future scientific questions. For example, California plant collectors would never have guessed that their specimens would help predict the impact of climate change on the state’s flora. Dr. McDade will highlight examples of unexpected past uses of this data. Dr. Lucinda A. McDade is the new Executive Director of Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden
