I Never Saw Another Butterfly
In 1942 12-year-old Raja Englanderova was sent to Terezin a Checkoslovakian ghetto that was a way-station for Jewish prisoners bound for Auschwitz. In those bleak surroundings she meets Irena Synkova a teacher who's secretly conducting art and writing classes with the children. Raja gradually recognizes Irena’s classes are keeping the children alive and preserving their hope. This play is about hope in the face of intimidation and the power of education and art to bring out the best in us all.
