Offered by the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, t his genetics and biotech event is a full-day workshop held on the HudsonAlpha campus in Huntsville, AL. Alabama public high school life science teachers who complete the workshop will return to the classroom with lesson plans and hands-on materials that are student-tested, informative and link to state course of study. Those teachers will also receive reimbursement for their Mission: iSTEM Conference registration and the cost of a substitute for the Friday workshop. Â Reimbursement checks will be mailed to teachers a few weeks after the conclusion of the workshop, unless otherwise specified by the teacher's school district.
Since the GREAT Workshop is the genetics and biotechnology strand of the entire regional conference, Alabama public high school life science teachers must also register for the Mission: iSTEM Conference to be eligible for the classroom materials. The Mission: iSTEM registration entitles teachers to attend the full, conference program, including reception, meal functions, and Saturday sessions. Conference registration fees will be reimbursed at the completion of the conference. Private, parochial and out-of-state teachers may participate in the GREAT Workshop for a nominal fee. If you are not a high school life science teacher within the Alabama public school system, please click here to register.
