As always you will see major choreographic works created by the most renown and rising voices of today's dance creators including Krzysztof Pastor, Mats Ek, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui,Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Mauro Astolfi, Marcos Morau and Uri Sands among others. See details below.

Choreographers Forum on March 27, 7:00PM at the MFAH, Brown Auditorium,1001 Bissonnet,… Show more Houston, TX, 77005.

This 11th year forum will feature Krzysztof Pastor, choreographer and the Artistic Director of the Polish National Ballet who is also a resident choreographer at the Dutch National Ballet and the ballet director at the Lithuanian National Opera, Ballet.

We will also hear from one of DSF's favorite choreographers, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa whose two pieces will be presented in the festival. Also, you will see a new film choreographed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui based on his Faun creation presented in DSF 2011. Cherkaoui created all of the dance choreography and coached the actors in Anna Karenina by Joe Wright.Free admission and reception will follow in the Museum lobby.


Performances on March 28, 29 and 30 in the Cullen Theater, Wortham Center will include:

-4 USA Premieres by the Polish National Ballet, (first time back in the US since 1980), 3 of which are by their Artistic Director, Krzyzstof Pastor with 2 of the pieces featuring guest dancer, Rubi Pronk

-USA Premiere of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's curated version of In Transit by the Compañía Nacional de Danza/National Ballet of Spain, Madrid, Spain

-USA Premiere of a specially created version of PUZ/ZLE by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, danced by his company Eastman with live music performance by musicians from Lebanon, Japan and Poland

-USA Premiere of Mauro Astolfi's Dangerous Liaisons by Spellbound Contemporary Ballet, Rome, Italy

-USA Premiere of Moscow/Russia and USA debut of company La Veronal, Barcelona, Spain

-Houston Premiere of L'Effleure by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, a solo created for and danced by Rubi Pronk

-Light Beings by Mats Ek, danced by HeadSpaceDance, London, ENgland

-USA Premiere of the solo work, Rouse, by Fernando Hernando Magadan, choreographer and former Netherlands Dance Theater dancer.

-High Heel Blues by Uri Sands, former Alvin Ailey dancers, danced by his company TU Dance, St.Paul, Minnesota.
