Start with the intelligent lyrical sensibilities of James McMurtry, add some cheerful good humor ala Jimmy Buffet, and set it to a melodic gallop that would do the early Jawhawks proud.
He blends great lyrics and spectacular music to achieve a sort of cross between George Strait and Robert Earl Keene, although his voice is much more on par with Strait (no offense Bob).
