The Art of Soap Making (Afternoon)

In this hands-on workshop, taught by Steve Cromwell and Jo Ann Takushi, each participant will make 1 1/2 pounds of high quality, environmentally pure soap for personal use. The workshop will include discussion of the history of soap, its physical properties, how soap cleans, and the chemical process called 'saponification'. The soap-making practicum will cover equipment needed, ingredients, as well as safety precautions and protocols. Participants will be instructed by email on what other materials they may need to bring for class and will go home with samples which they have made in class.
