Fight or Flight: Dancing the Inside OUT

Convergence Dance Theatre returns to Marks with a new and exciting evening of original dance works created by Oahu dance artists. The newest CDT concert, Fight or Flight, probes our natural reaction to the daily stress and struggle for survival (real and imagined) to tragedy, love, work. Each choreographer explores how we deal with the wear and tear on our emotional and physical selves as we navigate through our increasingly demanding and isolating modern lives. As busy citizens we internally digest our stress letting it fester and consume from the inside out.
Fight or Flight features new choreography by Jennifer Shannon, Meghen Squires McKinley, Malia Yamamoto, Laura Reichhardt and Roxanne Ingano. Pieces range from the quiet and nostalgic duet, Creatures Comforts by Laura Reichhardt to the explosive and forceful choreography by Roxanne Ingano. Diverse music, special costumes and props and attention to theatrical elements are utilized to bring each piece to life with vivid and powerful images. Each piece weaves together to create a colorful landscape of dynamic movement dedicated to the persistence and triumph of the human spirit.
