Celtic Connections is proud to present ‘Pacem Noel’, annual Christmas charity concert, in aid of The Ebenezer New Hope School and Helping Hands. An outstanding cast of singers and musicians to include Celtic Connections Chamber Choir, The International Concert… Show more Orchestra of Hong Kong, bagpiper Christopher Lee and Irish Harpist Shelly Cox . The programme led by Hong Kong-based conductors Canice Gleeson and Debra Jones, will highlight beautifully repertoire of choral and orchestral arrangements of contemporary and Celtic music. Our concert brings together singers and musicians from across Hong Kong, and exemplifies collaboration along with talented students from Hong Kong finest international schools. ‘Pacem Noel’ will take you on a musical journey through a colourful spiritual soundscape.
‘Pacem Noel’ features music by Karl Jenkins - Adiemus, Enya - May it be, Ennio Morricone - Nella Fantasia, Les Choristes - Vois Sur ton Chemin, Caccini - Ave Maria, Celtic Woman hits; The Sky and The dawn and The Sun, Isle of Hope Isle of Tears, The Blessing, My Land, Vivaldi’s Rain, The Bells of Christmas, Christmas Pipes and seasonal favourites such as O Holy Night, Silent Night, and The Wexford Carol . T he ICOHK takes centre stage with spectacular performances of Troika and A Festive Christmas.
Celtic Connections Chamber Choir celebrates its fourth year as the only choir dedicated to performing Celtic & Contemporary music in Asia. Linked to the St. Patrick’s Society of Hong Kong and the Honorary Consul General of Ireland in Hong Kong, its mission is to promote all aspects of performing arts through exciting, innovative and collaborative performances throughout the region. We have performed at a number of high profile events including: Hong Kong Asian Gaelic Games, ‘A Celtic Christmas’ Annual Concert, St. Patrick’s Society Annual Ball, ‘Celtic Connections’ concert at City Hall, Hong Kong and The Forbidden City Concert Hall, Beijing with Davy Spillane and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. Performing to packed audiences at St. John’s Cathedral in their annual Christmas and summer concerts, Celtic Connections Hong Kong continue to support the community with proceeds from their concerts going to local charities. We are proud to be able to continue our support of two local charities, The Ebenezer New hope School and The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children. The Choir alongside the International Concert Orchestra of Hong Kong has had an outstanding year with performances at Kowloon Cricket Club, The Arcade Cyberport, ‘Choir Aid’ and ‘A Celtic Dream’ in St. John’s Cathedral. The Choir is proud of their continued connections with local and international musicians.
The International Concert Orchestra of Hong Kong (ICOHK), received accolades at their debut performance with Celtic Connections at the ‘Reflection’ concert in June 2012, continuing their success with performances at the Kowloon Cricket Club, A Celtic Christmas and Celtic Dream. Members of Hong Kong’s finest youth orchestra are gifted and talented students from International and secondary schools throughout Hong Kong. ICOHK’s mission is to inspire young musicians through the study of challenging and exciting repertoire with performances of the highest standard on national and international platforms. The ICOHK are looking forward to welcoming you to their concert in February 2015. Stay tuned!
