Food is very important in Thai culture. In fact, Thai cooking is an element that helps to hold our family and society together.
Meals are significant events in Thai culture, as they are times for creating are affirming relationship. The generosity and openness of Thai relationships can be seen in the eating tradition. Traditionally, all entree dishes are placed in the center of the table while steamed rice is served to everyone. This arrangement allows each person to choose which dishes to sample and enjoy, with no obligation to partake of every dish. This dining style typifies the traditional acceptance and sharing qualities of Thai familial and friendly relationship.
As Thai culture is reflected in Thai food, Thai food also reflects Thai culture. Thai cuisine uses many spices, herbs and seasonings. The sauces and spices of our restaurant are made from old family recipes handed down from generation to generation. However, each dish of Thai food is also characterized by the part of the country from which it originated. Due to the historical to diversity in population and in geographical characteristics, each part of Thailand contains its own indigenous herbs and spices and therefore, correspondingly produces different types of dishes which are "typical" of those areas. These dishes therefore hold historical and cultural histories of their own, and are often vastly different from one another. For example, our "Larb" dish, originated from the northeast, looks and taste nothing like "Pad Thai" from central Thailand, even though these two dishes are both part "Thai cuisine". Little Spice creates dishes from all different areas of "Thai cuisine".
