Godsmack
The Boston-based alternative metal group Godsmack were originally comprised of vocalist Sully Erna (a devout Wiccan), guitarist Tony Rambola, bassist Robbie Merrill, and drummer Tommy Stewart. After debuting in 1997 with All Wound Up, Godsmack signed with Universal, which in 1998 reissued the LP as a self-titled effort with a handful of new tracks; at that point Stewart -- who'd left the group in mid-1997 and was replaced by drummer Joe d'Arco -- returned to the lineup on a permanent basis....

Bush
Led by guitarist/vocalist Gavin Rossdale, Bush became the first post-Nirvana British band to hit it big in America. Of course, they became a hit by playing by the grunge rules -- they had loud guitars, guttural vocals, stop-start rhythms, and extreme dynamics....

Calexico
Calexico, a Tucson collective of musicians focused around Joey Burns and John Convertino, forged an eclectic identity through their exploration of Southwestern culture. Composer Ennio Morricone's spaghetti Westerns as well as Portuguese fado, Afro-Peruvian music, and '50s and '60s jazz, country, and surf music all factored into Calexico's music....

Born Friedrich Kautz on October 23, 1979, in Berlin, Prinz Pi went by a number of different names in the German hip-hop scene, such as Doc Murdock, Doc Mabuse, Slick Spingo and Prince Porn One, before settling on the name that wouldn't lead reviewers to think he was peddling pornographic rap....

Der W
Der W is an alias of Stephan Weidner, a singer, songwriter, musician, and producer who led the German hard rock band Böhse Onkelz for several decades. Founded in 1980 as a punk band, Böhse Onkelz released well over a dozen albums and proved very popular -- as well as controversial, because of its right-wing themes -- over the years, topping the German albums chart multiple times....
