A New Soul… Show more Song is the brainchild and creation of Christina Connors, a professional singer, music producer, and massage therapist. A New Soul Song uses melody of We Can Be Kind written by internationally renowned composer, David Friedman, and brings it together with words of children on the meaning of kindness.
Connors recently collaborated with Friedman on an album of his songs for a grieving children’s project. That experience brought her inspiration on the healing power of music to the human soul. Music heals our mind, body, and spirit as evidenced by the growth of music therapy and musical meditation.
C onnors said: “My work with David made me realize I want to continue in the recording studio with the creative freedom to make and perform music that enhances and enriches the lives of others, particularly children.”
Connors chose Friedman’s song We Can Be Kind to launch her production company, A New Soul Song, as it fits perfectly with her vision of music as a universal language and kindness as a universal gesture. She brings in children’s insights and wisdom, the proverbial out of the mouths of babes, as they are our future. Children will be the leaders of tomorrow. They are inheriting the planet. Christina envisions children creating bridges of kindness from one generation to the next.
Promoting acts of kindness using the insights of children on what it means to be kind brings back memories of Art Linkletter’s Kids Say the Darnedest Things in the 1950’s and 1960’s. In this case, the focus is on making kids and all of us kinder. Rather than tell kids what not to do, i.e., stop bullying; A New Soul Song encourages kids and their families by telling them what to do, namely, be kind.
Connors added: “Reaching children around the globe is our goal. A refrain in our song says ‘always remember we can be kind.’ We want to shout that message to the heavens and to be echoed and reinforced. We gain insight and understanding by listening to the children about what it means to be kind.”
Christina is joined in the project by music producer Jason Polise, a talented multi-instrument musician, and music teacher for children, along with their featured singer, 11-year-old Ella Angelina. The production team believe A New Soul Song will resonate with children, parents, families, schools, and communities locally, statewide, nationally, and around the world.
Polise said: “We hope to see children sharing their insights on kindness and paying it forward by being kind.”
Christina Connors is a Renaissance woman who is as beautiful inside as she is outside. She touches lives literally as a licensed massage therapist in private practice locally, and figuratively with her musical productions here and in live performances at venues like The Unity Center.
