Erykah Badu With Special Guest The Roots In Concert

The Greensboro Coliseum Complex has announced it will host Erykah Badu in concert, with special guest The Roots, on Saturday, May 17 at 8:00 p.m.   Tickets will go on sale Friday, April 4 th at 10:00 a.m. at www.ticketmaster.com , via Ticketmaster’s Charge-By-Phone Network at 336-852-1100 in Greensboro and 336-722-6400 in Winston-Salem , at Ticketmaster retail ticket center locations including Lowes Food Stores and the FYE and Macy’s stores in Greensboro and at the Coliseum advance box office.   Grammy Award winner Erykah Badu will hit the stage in support of New Amerykah , her first release in over four years. Badu, whose lyrical delivery is often compared to Billie Holiday’s, is known for a musical sensibility that melds 70s soul with jazz and hip-hop. Her lyrics are highly personal urban philosophies that throw emotional challenges in the face of the listener. In 1997, Badu's debut LP, Baduizm , was released to rave reviews and commercial success on the R&B and pop charts, helping it to achieve platinum status in under a month. The success on R&B radio, critical appeal and Badu's fresh take on R&B music, all helped the LP to get as high as No. 2 on the Billboard charts and usher in numerous awards and accolades.
