Monday, Dec 2, 2013 1:30p
Grand Rapids Public Museum Grand Rapids, MI

Jackson Kaguri founded the Nyaka AIDS Orphan Project in 2001, in response to the devestating effects of AIDS in his hometown of Nyakagyeki, Uganda. The organization provides free education to children who have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. In addition to two schools he also operates a library, farm and nurtiton program, medical clinic, clean water system, and support program for grandmothers who care for up to 14 grandchildren at a time.
