John, LeRoy, and Sam Cascone started in the restaurant business over 40 years ago with a small diner on Locust trafficway near downtown Kansas City, MO. In those early days, the Cascone brothers were well known for their Italian Breaded Steak Sandwich, and we think the first in the area to develop the Italian hardroll on which the sandwich was served. In 1954, John and LeRoy Cascone opened a full service restaurant at 3733 N . Oak in Kansas City North, Mo. Table service, a full dinner menu and the emergence of Cascone's famous lasagna occurred on North Oak. Since that time, lasagna has been the single most favorite entree at Cascone's; over 2 million orders served and still one of our trademark dinners. With John's death in 1961 and LeRoy's death in 1963, Jennie Cascone, John's wife, owned and operated Cascone's Restaurant with the help of her children. Today, Jennie Cascone continues to monitor the success of the business, which is now owned by her sons and daughter. Cascone's ownersoperators today include George Cascone, Frank Cascone and his wife Vita Ann, Larry Cascone and his wife Jeanne, Jim Cascone and his wife Sara, Lucille Hotchkiss, and John Cascone. Our restaurant in Overland Park is named for our father, John Cascone, and our restaurant in Gladstone, Tommy's, is named for a close uncle.

We go to Tommy's about once a month and are usually surprised by the variation in food portion sizing. Sometimes it is a very large plate of food and other times it seems more like a lunch portion. We continue to go because service is usually pretty good, the food is usually pretty good, and we get discounted coupons at Restaurant dot com.
Normally, the drinking water tastes bad but it is tolerable. This does also affect the tast of the soda (i.e. coke) but again, that is usually tolerable as the sugar masks the bad taste.
Tonight was different though. The drinking water was truly disgusting. Even worse was that my wife ordered the Steak and Shrimp ($18) and the shrimp and steamed veggies were clearly cooked in the disgusting water. My wife couldn't eat either of these and I ate the shrimp because I hated to see it get wasted. That was a mistake. I have had disgusting after-taste of those shrimp all night.
We live here in the Gladstone area and have both a water filter and a water softener that we picked up from Sears (also in Gladstone). I would imagine that Tommy's could get the same setup for $1,000 - $1,500 installed and that really could make a huge difference for them. Hopefully they take a look at these reviews periodically and get a clue.
