The Bittersweet Restaurant was originally established in the Lakes Region of Northern New Hampshire in 1963. The restaurant rapidly became a favorite with vacationers and locals alike. Among its many favorite dishes were Lamb and Cider Pie, Broiled Seafood Medley, and Lobster, of course! After 44 years, Bittersweet's current owner, Ed Dunkel, closed its doors in 2005, and moved to Germantown, Tennessee, to escape the harsh climate of Northern New England. The new site for the Bittersweet Restaurant in Germantown Crossing was discovered by Ed in mid-2005, and construction at the Germantown site began in October 2005. The Bittersweet Germantown opened its doors on December 19, 2005. The restaurant continues to serve many of its signature dishes with a New England flair, including Lobster Pie, Lobster Fettuccini Alfredo, Seafood Saute, and quality prime cuts of filet mignon and New York strip steak. Other offerings such as Lobster Cakes, Mad Maddie's Crabcakes, Rack of Lamb, and mushroom and spinach stuffed Pork Tenderloin, and the ever changing Catch of the Day continue to tempt diners for lunch and dinner. The philosophy of the Bittersweet Restaurant in Germantown remains the same as that of the original New Hampshire restaurant: quality, service, consistency of food preparation, and value. Everything here at the Bittersweet is prepared to order, from the appetizers through the premise-made desserts. Most offerings can be customized to your specifications. It is my hope and desire that you have a memorable and delectable dining experience here at the Bittersweet Restaurant, and that you tell all your friends about us.
