Did you know...
Noche Flamenca was founded in Madrid in 1993 by artistic director Martín Santangelo and his wife (lead dancer) Soledad Barrio.
Soledad has won awards from over 12 different countries around the globe for her excellence in dance.
Noche Flamenca's goal since its inception has been to maintain the essence, purity and integrity of one of the world's most complex and mysterious art forms without the use of tricks or gimmicks.
All aspects of flamenco; dance, song, and music, are interrelated and given equal weight in the presentations of Noche Flamenca, creating a true communal spirit within the company - the very heart and soul of flamenco.
The flamenco exists in three forms: el cante (the song), el baile (the dance), and la guitarra (the guitar playing). Gypsies are often credited with the "invention" of flamenco, and it is at least certain that they played an important part in its creation. But the popular songs and dances of Andalusia also had a major influence on early Flamenco.
