Dark, swanky spot just east of Harbor Boulevard. The first-time owners chose an inventive layout, with couches, low tables, comfy armchairs – all in black. It's almost as if they want you to go to sleep there.

It's a place where you can hang out comfortably for a few hours. The food is superb, albeit a bit pricey – we spent over $100 for two people. We had DG's filet mignon – grilled just right with some seriously mouthwatering, tangy red wine shallot reduction with blue crab and gorgonzola. The cheese/meat combo gives the taste a heft and assertiveness. Have a zinfandel with this one. Start off with the gorgonzola shrimp and you'll be spoiled for anything else you eat that night. For a goof, order the Dean Martini ($12) – Tanqueray gin with sweet vermouth and a splash of Cutty Sark – served with an unfiltered cigarette.
