The Fort had been preserved and restored in the early 1940's and is now a part of the Colorado Historic Society.

The Barricks, Officer's Quarters, and many other buildings have been preserved and now offer a great walking tour of the grounds. Learn about the Buffalo Soldiers who served there, see how the Adobe buildings were built, using local tradesmen and clay from the creeks and river banks, absorb Colorado's history.
