"Sizzlin' 60s"

The Fireside kicks off its 36th season of Broadway-quality theatre with the music of the SIZZLIN’ 60s, continuing a popular tradition of LIVE BAND revues created exclusively for The Fireside by Artistic Director Ed Flesch. This tribute to one of the most creative, turbulent, exciting and entertaining decades of the last century features host and comedian Dan Embree, a cast of eight singers and dancers and The Fireside’s own Band, led by audience favorite Steve Watts. “The 1960’s had a passion, a pulse, and a rhythm that resonates with audiences of all ages - not only those of us who grew up in that era” said Ed Flesch. “The music scene was filled with groundbreaking artists who changed everything about our culture in ways that still affect us today,” Flesch continued. “The music and sounds of the 60’s are as fresh, exciting, and relevant today as they were during that storied time in our history.” As The Fireside Theatre owner Rick Klopcic notes, “Everyone’s memory of the 1960s depends on their own experience with the era, but the beat lives on, and so do the memories!”

SIZZLIN’ 60s includes the music of an era marked by The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Simon & Garfunkel, as well as the great artist of Motown Records - The Temptations, The Supremes, The Miracles and many others. In addition to the unforgettable music, audiences will enjoy a trip through the fads, the movies and the memories of this unique era in American culture. SIZZLIN’ 60s cast includes a cast of some of the most talented young musical performers from around the nation including some local and national talents familiar to The Fireside audiences, such as Mathew Schwartz, Bianca Denis and Milwaukee native Beth Mulkerron. The Fireside band includes some of the best musicians in the country, many of whom have toured and recorded with artists such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Brian Setzer, Clyde Stubblefield, and Ray Charles. The Fireside and the entire company of SIZZLIN’ 60s dedicate this production to the memory of friend, colleague and longtime Fireside musical talent, trumpet player Jeff Pietrangelo who passed away just after Christmas of this past year.

With special youth packages and a Four-for-Three special on Thursday evenings and Sunday middays, the show provides sizzlin’ entertainment for audiences of all ages.
