Harkins Flagstaff 11
Harkins Flagstaff 11
In 1933, Dwight Red Harkins opened Tempe's first movie house, the College Theatre, today's Valley Art. Red's son, Dan, expanded the Harkins business and enhanced the moviegoing experience. Dan started buying other theaters and completely upgrading them with state-of-the-art amenities. Harkins is known for its new releases, independent films at the Camelview location, digital sound systems, plush rocking-chair seats, Cine Capri theaters (where the screens measure 30 feet by 70 feet, twice the size of a traditional movie screen) and signature snack bars.
