The Midwest Salute to the Arts is a juried fine arts show featuring 100 artists exhibiting and selling their works from 11 different Mediums. The Salute offers attendees a chance to view and purchase art under huge white tents in a relaxed setting in Moody Park, Fairview Heights, IL. There is easy free parking, free admission, and the relaxed nature of the show allows for enjoyment for all! Besides viewing and purchasing art, there are musical groups to enjoy, a variety of food and drink available… Show more for purchase, children's activities at the Creation Station, and an exclusive Children's Gallery where only children may purchase a piece of art for $5 (no adults allowed!) The Midwest Salute to the Arts was established with the goal of combining community involvement with an appreciation for the arts.
The 11 different mediums for sale and on display by the juried artists are: Clay, Drawing/Printmaking (Graphics), Fine Craft, Glass, Jewelry (Precious Metal), Mixed Media, Oil/Acrylics, Photography, Sculpture, Watercolor, and Wood. Art and craft demonstrations will again be included in this year’s venue giving visitors the opportunity to see art in the process of creation. Demonstrations in an array of mediums will be held throughout the weekend by members of the Gateway East Artists Guild, the Artisan Guild of Southern Illinois, and the Belleville Woodcarvers. Visitors can get up close and personal with the artisans to ask questions, observe works in early stages of development, see a variety of tools being used, and learn where lessons are available.
A past Signature Award Winning painting will be raffled off with tickets available at the event for only $5 each or 5 for $20. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance burn camp for children, “I am Me”. Join us in supporting this wonderful cause.
At the renowned children's interactive art area, the Creation Station, imagination is the only requirement to enter. Stop by and create a project or two, or three, or more to fill up your own gallery. Or join the group working on the Bed Sheet Park or at the Salute Chalk Walk. Artful expressions abound where kids can create masterpieces of their own on the chalk-walk or the giant sheet canvases!
Where can kids buy art without mom or dad nudging them toward something they like? Only at the Midwest Salute to the Arts Children's Gallery. The Children's Gallery is designed to foster an interest in art at an early age. Children ages 3-11 enter the gallery and choose a piece of art, free from parental influence, but under adult volunteer supervision. After the child has selected their piece of art, they are encouraged to visit the artist who created their piece to find out more about it. The cost to enter the gallery is only $5.
