This summer, Hippiefest returns for a 3rd year to celebrate the music and bands of rock’s most important decade; an age that would shape the musical landscape for years to come. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the summer of ‘68, a year that, according to Time Magazine “changed the world.” That is no less true for 68’s music than its politics and social revolution, so come take a trip back in time and experience musical pioneers like Jack Bruce of Cream; Eric Burdon & The Animals; The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie; Badfinger; Melanie; and Jonathan Edwards.

Tour creator Toby Ludwig explains to Billboard Online: "For years I've been wanting to put out a socially conscious show, because our times are similar to my childhood, which was in the '60s. There are so many concerts out there that don't make a social statement. It's important to be aware of who we are and what we're doing as a country," Ludwig says. "Sometimes the best way to do it is through a concert."

Hippiefest features several musicians who performed at the Monterey Pop Festival and the original Woodstock. The 22-date tour kicks off in Phoenix, AZ on July 11.

Hippiefest has been praised as “A taste of Woodstock without the mud and bad acid” (Miami Herald), "guaranteed to get boomers misty-eyed enough to fog up their bifocals" (Newsday). The NY Post simply declared, "No shoes, no shirt, no problem.”

A full line of flower power paraphernalia such as tie-dye t-shirts, skirts, caps, bags, stickers and posters will be available throughout the tour.

Hippiefest is produced by Toby Ludwig and Ron Hausfeld of Flower
Power Concerts, Inc.

Fans can expect to hear a variety of groovy classic favorites such as:

Jack Bruce of Cream- “Sunshine Of Your Love,” “White Room,” and “I Feel Free”

Eric Burdon & The Animals- “House of The Rising Sun,” “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” and “Bring It On Home To Me.

The Turtles (featuring Flo and Eddie)- "Happy Together," "She'd Rather Be With Me" and "It Ain't Me Babe"

Badfinger- "Come And Get It," "No Matter What" and "Day After Day"

Melanie- "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" and "Brand New Key”

Janis Ian- “At Seventeen,” “Society’s Child” and “Fly Too High”

Jonathan Edwards- “Sunshine” and “Shanty.”

Although some may be tempted to call multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and composer Jack Bruce a rock & roll musician, blues and jazz are what this innovative musician really loves.

Janis Ian
Janis Ian Remove performer from this event
A singer/songwriter both celebrated and decried for her pointed handling of taboo topics, Janis Ian enjoyed one of the more remarkable second acts in music history. After first finding success as a teen, her career slumped, only to enter a commercial resurgence almost a decade later.
The Turtles
The Turtles Remove performer from this event
Though many remember only their 1967 hit "Happy Together," the Turtles were one of the more enjoyable American pop groups of the 1960s, moving from folk-rock inspired by the Byrds to a sparkling fusion of Zombies-inspired chamber-pop and straight-ahead good-time pop reminiscent...
Eric Burdon
Eric Burdon Remove performer from this event
As the lead singer of the Animals, Eric Burdon was one of the British Invasion's most distinctive vocalists, with a searingly powerful blues-rock voice. When the first lineup of the group fell apart in 1966, Burdon kept the Animals' name going with various players for a few years.
